Description
Yannic Cariah cemented his place in the T&T men’s senior team pretty early in his career. He showed great promise with his leg-break bowling, backed up with an ability to bat as well. So far, he has played 64 First Class matches for T&T Red Force. His highest score in the format is 196 runs. In those matches, he has also taken 51 wickets. In addition, one of his recent and great accolades were recognized during the 2019 edition of the Regional Super 50 Cup, where he displayed great leadership in leading the West Indies Emerging Players Team to their maiden title win.
He loved the game ever since he was small, and could be seen found randomly shadowing batting shots at any point in time. At 10-years-old, Yannic was selected to captain the T&T Under-13 team, in the Goodwill tour of Barbados and won the two tournaments there. He enjoyed a strong youth career. Yannic again captained the T&T Under-13 team in the 2004 Goodwill Tour at home, and the team retained the Inshan Ali Trophy.
He was then selected in the West Indies squad for the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand in 2010. He has continued to knock on the doors of various West Indies teams throughout his career and will hold out hope of one day playing on the biggest stage of them all.
